Magny-Cours, France | 21 July 2026 – Malaysia’s rising talent Qabil Irfan Azlan is targeting his second podium finish of the season when he competes in Round 4 of the Moto4 European Cup at the Magny-Cours Circuit, France, from 24–26 July.
The SIC-GRYD Racing rider heads into the weekend full of confidence after securing his maiden career podium in Round 3 at Jerez, Spain, last month, proving he has the pace to challenge Europe’s leading young riders.

That impressive result has lifted the 14-year-old to sixth in the overall championship standings with 51 points, and he is determined to continue his consistent form as he closes the gap to the riders ahead.

During the mid-season break, Qabil completed an intensive training programme in Barcelona, Spain, focusing on physical conditioning and technical preparation ahead of the challenge presented by the Magny-Cours circuit, which is renowned for its high-speed corners and demanding braking zones.

Qabil believes the experience gained over the opening three rounds of the season will allow him to approach this weekend with greater confidence and composure, while enabling him to make better decisions when battling at the front of the field.

The Magny-Cours round could prove to be a pivotal moment in the Terengganu-born rider’s campaign as he aims to break into the championship’s top five before the remaining rounds at Valencia, MotorLand Aragón and Misano.

Qabil currently sits sixth overall with 51 points, just two points behind Spain’s Ignacio Galán, who occupies fifth place on 53 points.

Ahead of them are Edoardo Savino (Italy) on 56 points and Mateo Marulanda (Colombia) with 59 points, while Italy’s Lorenzo Pritelli is second overall on 61 points. Spain’s Álvaro Lucas leads the championship standings comfortably with 95 points.

A podium finish at Magny-Cours could propel Qabil into the championship’s top five, provided other results also fall in his favour.

🇬🇧 “I’m really looking forward to racing at Magny-Cours in France. I know it won’t be an easy challenge because the competition is becoming increasingly intense. From what we’ve seen in the previous rounds, every rider has been incredibly fast from the very first practice session right through to the race itself.

My team and I have prepared as thoroughly as possible, and I’ll be giving 100 per cent in every session to make sure I’m ready to fight at the front and remain competitive throughout the weekend.”

🇬🇧 “The fourth round of the Moto4 European Cup at Magny-Cours will present another new challenge for Qabil, as it will be his first time racing at the circuit. I will be there with Qabil throughout the week to support the team and help with his preparations.
I’m confident the team can make further improvements to the bike to ensure Qabil is able to deliver a more competitive performance throughout the weekend. The schedule is also particularly demanding, as there will be no practice session on Thursday. That makes it even more important for Qabil to get off to a strong start as soon as he takes to the track on Friday and adapt to the characteristics of the circuit as quickly as possible.

If everything goes according to plan and we are able to find the right bike set-up, I believe Qabil has the ability to fight with the leading group and challenge for a podium finish. With the right package, it is not impossible for him to fight for victory.”
